Under her leadership, the Bauhaus weaving workshop transformed from a neglected area into one of its most successful facilities. During her tenure, she shifted the focus from pictorial work to industry-oriented designs. In doing so, she brought radical ideas from the modern art world into weaving and initiated experiments with materials and methods that brought weaving into the modern age.

Care instructions for hand-woven kilim made from sheep's wool
Hand-woven kilims are not only a work of art, but also a long-lasting piece of furnishings if cared for properly. The natural sheep's wool they are made of gives them a unique structure and feel. With the following care tips, your kilim will stay beautiful for many years:
-
Regular vacuuming: Use a vacuum cleaner without a brush attachment to carefully vacuum your kilim once a week. This removes dust and small particles and freshens the wool.
-
Flipping: Flip your kilim every few months to ensure even wear on both sides and for even color fading.
-
Stain removal: If you have small stains, you should act quickly. Blot the stain with a clean, damp cloth without rubbing. If necessary, use a mild soap solution and rinse the area with clean water. Blot with a dry cloth and allow the area to dry completely.
-
Avoid direct sunlight: Excessive exposure to sunlight can fade the colors of your kilim. Place it in a location where it will not be constantly exposed to direct sunlight.
-
Annual professional cleaning: Depending on usage and location, it may be advisable to have your kilim professionally cleaned once a year to maintain its beauty and longevity.
-
Storing: If you want to store your kilim for a long time, roll it (instead of folding it) and store it in a cool, dry place. Use moth repellent to repel pests.
With these care tips, your hand-woven sheep's wool kilim will remain an eye-catcher for a long time and enrich your home with its natural beauty and craftsmanship.
