The traditional and timeless patterns of Anatolia make our vintage pillows very special. They are the mystical symbols of a millennia-old nomadic tradition, meant to bless the home and its inhabitants with love, blessings and protection. High quality materials such as handspun sheep's wool, goat hair or cotton connect us to the energy of Mother Earth. This pillowcase was sewn with love in the Wild Heart Free Soul studio in Istanbul from a fragment of a hand-woven Midcentury Vintage Kilim. The back is made of recycled cotton and has a high quality zipper. The kilim was professionally cleaned before further processing; age-related wear and natural irregularities are inevitable with unique, handmade vintage carpets.

REGION OF ORIGIN Central Anatolia MANUFACTURING PROCESS All our vintage kilims and rugs are completely handmade. The sheep's wool yarn is spun and dyed by hand. After the time-consuming production of the yarn, the kilim was woven by hand on a traditional wooden loom. This process usually took several months, sometimes even over a year. CLEANING AND RESTORATION Our cleaning process is cyclical and in harmony with nature. Our carpets are only cleaned once a year at the beginning of summer. We only use water and pure olive soap for this. We then work with the power of the sun to intensify the cleaning process. The strong sun in Antalya between June and September bleaches out stubborn stains and discolorations, removes odors, is antibacterial and keeps moths and insects away. Thanks to the power of nature, we can completely dispense with environmentally harmful chemicals. Our kilims are then mechanically dedusted and sent to Istanbul. In our studio in Sultanahmet, each rug is individually pulled into shape, the ends are reknotted and holes and discolored areas are reconstructed true to the original. The complete cleaning and restoration process takes between six months and two years, depending on rug .

MATERIAL Sheep wool is a natural and high quality material. All our vintage and antique rugs are woven from handspun sheep wool yarn. This wool is resistant to rice and has a high content of lanolin (wool grease). This makes the wool particularly stain resistant, water repellent and antibacterial. Sheep's wool is also a living material that becomes softer and shinier with use and the influence of sun, air and water over the years. A material that ages in beauty, is absolutely environmentally friendly and free of pollutants, cleans and regenerates itself. CARE With loving care and regular maintenance, a kilim from Wild Heart Free Soul will look like the first day even after many years of use. Genuine kilims therefore outlast several generations. Our kilims require little but proper care. A kilim should be carefully vacuumed or beaten out regularly. Stains can almost always be removed with a slightly damp cloth. Food residues can be easily scraped off or brushed out when dry. A kilim should not remain in a wet state for a long time, because this can cause it to warp.
