It was a picture-perfect summer day. Chestnut Avenue, 12 noon – and even before you reached the door, there was a hint of something special in the air.
Not just a sale. Not just an event.
The Ruglet Bazaar was a feeling.
A feeling of revival. Of reunions and rediscoveries. Of Berlin as I love it: open, diverse, vibrant, a little crazy – and full of heart.
We extended an invitation – and you came. Familiar faces from the Wild Heart Free Soul family, long-time supporters, old friends. But also many new visitors, especially a young audience. Open, curious, interested. People who moved among kilims and kaftans as if through another time – or perhaps a better present.
RUGLET BAZAAR: Between Anatolia and Berlin
What could be seen?
A bazaar like a woven dream.
🧿 Vintage kilims , collected over years, lovingly curated, some on sale – some from customers who wanted to pass their carpets on to new owners.
🧥 Vintage fashion, colorful kaftans from India, heavy silk robes from Afghanistan, hand-embroidered pieces from Anatolia.
💍 Jewelry that tells stories: Turkmen signet rings, Tuareg bronze amulets, delicate nomadic necklaces – displayed in an old glass display case that we found last minute through a shop liquidation in Oderbergerstr.
🫖 Old copper bowls from Gaziantep.
🎸 And as an unexpected highlight: a small, exquisite collection of vintage acoustic guitars.
Music that moves walls
And then there was of course:
🪩 Daniel Wang .
Disco legend. Friend. Soulmate.
Almost 20 years ago, I was already dancing to his sets – freshly arrived in Berlin, barefoot in clubs, my heart open to everything. The fact that he's now, all these years later, DJing in my own showroom – surrounded by kilims, children, and copper – felt like a journey back in time to the present.
Or like closing a circle.
His set? A prayer of groove. Jazz, funk, disco. Vinyl treasures, imbued with warmth and elegance. Music that doesn't entertain, but connects.
Dancing on the ground of stories
Three times the room fell silent. Three times a circle was formed.
And then someone stepped into the middle.
Ampelos Collective – three dancers, three improvisations.
They moved between the carpets, letting their bodies flow through the patterns.
In addition: the gentle sounds of the guzheng, played by Jiahui, whose music vibrated between the walls like a poem.
You could have heard a pin drop.
Some held their breath.
Others simply smiled – with that kind of goosebumps that defies explanation.
A golden dream
For the Ruglet Bazar, we completely remodeled our showroom. Everything was rearranged, carpets were stacked, display cases were moved, and fabrics were hung.
And: a small, big dream came true.
A golden disco ball.
It's now hanging above the front door – and it's rotating.
Slow, still, sparkling.
Like a tribute to the past and a promise for what is to come.
The energy behind the scenes
What touched me most?
Not just the encounters, the sales, the music.
But the path to get there.
Nora , who helped plan our event with so much passion.
And her friends – Francesca, Francesco and Giampo – who hung up posters in the street, cut reels, contributed ideas, helped carry things and celebrated with them.
This kind of support is not something to be taken for granted.
It is the backbone of every vision.
Thank you all – from the bottom of my heart.
And my team.
Elisa and Teresa , who spent hours with me moving, hanging, and layering – with an eye for detail and a great deal of dedication.
We didn't just redesign the showroom – we gave it a new feel.
And of course: my loyal customers and friends .
Some of you have been coming for over eleven years – since the first wild bazaar days of Wild Heart Free Soul.
You bring not only style and taste, but above all your presence, your conversations, your openness.
Without you, it wouldn't be a real party.
Without you, it would just be a room with carpets.
A huge thank you also to Valla Vino,
who, with their fine selection of natural wines, have not only filled glasses but also opened hearts.
Your bar was the quiet pulse in the background – a place to toast, linger, and continue the conversation.
Just like good wine should be: connecting, vibrant, authentic.
Thank you for bringing this place to life.
What remains of the RUGLET BAZAAR?
Many carpets have found a new home at the Ruglet Bazaar.
But even more than that: many people allowed themselves to be touched.
Of fabrics, of voices, of movements.
From this peculiar mix of flea market and performance, of used and significant.
The Ruglet Bazaar wasn't perfect. It was alive.
It wasn't planned. It was felt.
And perhaps that was precisely his magic.
For me, it was like a revival of the first Wild Heart Free Soul Bazaar.
A return to the roots.
A sense of moving forward.
A day that shows:
Ruglet is more than an outlet.
It is a room.
For encounters, for culture, for movement.
For everything that lives between the threads.
Thank you for being there.
We'll continue.
With you.
From the heart,
Beyza Nur
