Small prayer kilim from the province of Denizli
This handwoven vintage kilim was created in a village in the western Anatolian region of Denizli – as a personal companion for prayer, silence, and contemplation. Crafted in the 1960s from sheep's wool on a cotton warp, it is an expression of living tradition and inner focus. Its small format, delicate colors, and profound symbolism make it a quiet work of art for spaces with soul.

Symbolism & Interpretation

This kilim bears symbols with deep meaning:

  • Yıldız (star): light, orientation, inner purpose
  • Göz (Eye): Protection, mindfulness, perception
  • Çengel (hook): connection, compensation, balance
  • Su Yolu (Watercourse): Change, mobility, letting go
  • İm (Signature): Origin, identity, personal handwriting of the weaver

Woven messages – powerful, protective, reminiscent.

Colors in soft pastel shades

The color scheme of this kilim appears to be woven from light and silence:

  • Apricot orange: Warm and bright – like late summer light on clay walls
  • Saffron yellow: Sun-drenched, spicy and clear – a color full of vibrancy
  • Lavender pink: Delicate and calm – like faded flowers in the evening light
  • Blue-grey: Cool and balancing – like a distant horizon after rain
  • Brick brown: Earthbound and grounded – a foundation of time and memory
  • Natural white: Untreated wool – pure, raw, full of authenticity

A finely nuanced dialogue of warmth, depth and clarity.

For small places of collection

Measuring 125 × 80 cm, this kilim is ideal for quiet niches, altar spaces, entryways, or as a wall piece. It brings a quiet presence, textile poetry, and a tangible connection to the Anatolian weaving tradition to any room.

Restored & sun-clean
