This particular Bauhaus Carpet 1 transports us back to the golden 1920s, a time when Stölzl revolutionarily integrated modernism into hand-weaving.

As the first female master at the Bauhaus, Gunta Stölzl played a significant role in the development and recognition of weaving. Her beginning at the Bauhaus in Weimar in 1919 was characterized by creative synergies, particularly through her collaboration with the legendary Marcel Breuer. Her impressive textiles, which adorned Marcel Breuer's furniture, are considered classics of modern design.

After various stages, including her role in founding a weaving mill for Johannes Itten in Zurich, she returned to the Bauhaus in 1925 and took over the management of the weaving workshop. Despite leaving the Bauhaus in 1931 and emigrating to Switzerland, she left behind a legacy that distinguishes her as one of the most influential innovators of 20th-century textile design.
