The traditional and timeless patterns of Anatolia make each vintage kilim cushion truly special. They are the meaningful symbols of a millennia-old nomadic tradition, intended to bestow love, blessings, and protection upon the home and its inhabitants.
High-quality materials such as hand-spun sheep's wool, goat hair or cotton ensure a durable, high-quality product.
This cushion cover was lovingly sewn in our Wild Heart Free Soul studio in Istanbul from a fragment of a handwoven vintage kilim. The kilim was carefully cleaned before being used. Age-related marks and natural irregularities are part of its history and make each piece unique.
The back is made of recycled cotton and features a zipper.
Anatolian kilims are far more than mere textile objects – they are woven memories, personal messages, and expressions of lived culture. For generations, women wove their wishes, hopes, and protective symbols into the fabric – freely, intuitively, and full of symbolic power.
The kilim from which this cushion was made also originated in an Anatolian home – spun by hand from the wool of the owner's own sheep and dyed in tones that reflect the nature of Anatolia. Many of these pieces date from the 1960s and 1970s, when tradition and modernity met in the interplay of colors.
In our studio, these woven treasures are treated with the utmost respect – cleaned with olive oil soap, dried in the sun, and transformed into new companions with time and dedication.
A kilim from Wild Heart Free Soul is not a product. It is a legacy. A woven wish – and perhaps a silent companion for your home of tomorrow.
A kilim cushion is a long-lasting companion – if treated with care, it will remain beautiful for many years. Regular, gentle vacuuming with a brush attachment or lightly beating it removes dust and preserves its structure. Please do not use a rotary vacuum cleaner.
Immediately dab fresh stains with a clean, dry cloth. If necessary, a little olive oil soap can be used with a slightly damp cloth – without rubbing or soaking. This will keep the wool elastic and vibrant.
For thorough cleaning, we recommend professional hand washing every few years. We work with experienced Oriental rug specialists and are happy to share our recommendations with you.
