Manufacturing Process

Our vintage kilim rugs are handmade. The wool yarn used for our vintage rugs is hand-spun and hand-dyed. Woven from the finest, pure hand-spun sheep's wool, hand-dyed in strong, cheerful colors. Due to the high lanolin content, the sheep's wool has a particularly beautiful sheen. A luster that cannot be achieved with industrially produced yarn.

Cleaning and Restoration

Our cleaning process takes place cyclically and in harmony with nature. We only clean once a year at the beginning of summer. Our rugs are cleaned once a year at the beginning of the summer months. We exclusively use

 I   water and pure olive soap. Afterwards, we utilize the power of the sun to intensify the cleaning process. The strong sun during the summer months of June-September bleaches stubborn stains and discolorations, removes odors, and keeps moths away. Through the power of nature, we can completely avoid aggressive and environmentally harmful chemicals.

Afterwards, our kilims are mechanically dusted, stretched into shape, the ends are re-knotted, and holes are re-woven.

Material

Sheep's wool is a natural and very high-quality material. All our carpets are woven from hand-spun sheep's wool yarn, which consists of long hairs and has a very high lanolin (wool grease) content. This makes the wool particularly dirt-resistant, water-repellent and antibacterial.

Sheep's wool is also a living material that becomes softer and shinier with use and the influence of sun, air and water over the years. It is a material that ages in beauty, is absolutely environmentally friendly and chemical-free, and cleans and regenerates itself.

Care

With loving treatment and regular care, a Kelim from Wild Heart Free Soul will still look like new after 20-30 years and can therefore last for several generations.

Our kilims do not require a lot of care, but they do require the right care. A kilim should be vacuumed regularly and gently or beaten out. Stains can always be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. Food residues can be scraped off or brushed out very easily when dry.
