A Woven Heirloom from Western Anatolia
This original vintage kilim was handcrafted in the 1960s in Acipayam, Western Anatolia, by a nomadic weaver. Before even the first warp thread was strung, her work began with the flock: shearing sheep, cleaning, carding, and hand-spinning the wool into yarn – until the thread was strong enough for a life on the floor. She then dyed the wool in an elaborate process using natural dyes. From the first shearing to the finished kilim, a whole year could pass.

This kilim was not originally woven for sale, but for the family's own use. Nomads and farmers used their kilims as floor coverings, tent or wall hangings, blankets, or carrying bags. Each piece embodies everyday life, protection, and beauty – made to last a lifetime.
