This original vintage kilim was hand-woven in the second half of the 20th century by a nomad woman in Anatolia. It is made of hand-spun, naturally dyed sheep's wool. Before she began weaving, the weaver sheared her sheep, cleaned, combed and spun the wool to obtain the best yarn for her kilim. After spinning the wool, she dyed it with natural pigments in an elaborate process. This whole process could take a year or even longer.

This woven work of art is unique and was made for personal use. Nomads and farmers used their kilims as floor coverings, as tent or wall hangings, as blankets or transport bags. The patterns and symbols on kilims always have a special meaning. Most often, they stand for protection, blessing, wealth or the unity of lovers.

All Wild Heart Free Soul kilims are naturally cleaned and professionally restored under our guidance and control. We guarantee authenticity, high quality and fair trade.
