Vintage Usak 262x82cm
This original vintage kilim was handwoven by a nomad in Anatolia in the second half of the 20th century. It is made from handspun, naturally dyed sheep's wool. Before starting to weave, the weaver sheared her sheep, cleaned, combed and stretched the wool to get the best yarn for her kilim. After she spun the wool, she dyed it with natural pigments in a complex process. This whole process could take a year or even longer.
This woven work of art is one of a kind and was made for personal use. Nomads and farmers used their kilims as floor coverings, as tent or wall hangings, as blankets or transport bags. The patterns and symbols on kilims always have a special meaning. Usually they stand for protection, blessing, wealth or the unity of lovers.
All Wild Heart Free Soul Kilims are naturally cleaned and professionally restored under our guidance and control. We guarantee authenticity, high quality and fair trade.
